Case Studies

Vidtek’s Wireless Leak Alarm (WiLA) is a smart water leak detector that can notify user(s) in the event of a water leakage incident. WiLA can prevent thousands of dollars in damage to home owners.  WiLA is a power efficient IoT device which can maintain monitoring for over 10 years without the need for battery replacement. The smart device application is available on all platforms, including iOS and Android.  The WiLA application allows the user to easily and intuitively initialize and manage their devices.

Wireless Valve (WiVA) is another part of leak damage prevention family. WiVA is a WiFi enabled valve that just like WiLA can be initialized and managed through the app. WiVA and WiLA can communicate with each other when a leak incident happens by having WiLA send a message to a paired WiVA to shut off the valve. Everything is done automatically, and the user does not need to be present at home when an incident happens.

Vidtek designed a state-of-the-art high deification wireless video streaming device for video inspection applications. The portable, battery-operated video streaming device comes in a small form factor and can stream video continuously for over four hours with a single charge.  The user receives, displays, and records the video stream on any Android or iOS platform.

Since the introduction of Digital Video Recorders (DVRs), technical limitations impelled users to compress video in order to make it possible to write the data steam in storage media. Video compression results in data loss. In other words, it is impossible to retrieve the original video quality. With the advancements in technology, our engineers were able to design an affordable, uncompressed video recorder – an essential tool that hasn’t been available until now for scientists, researchers, and doctors. Vidtek’s Uncompressed HD Video Recorder provides the best video quality possible. Recording video footprints with no data loss means keeping all of the pixels that are normally lost in the compression process.

Vidtek worked closely with one of the leading IC manufacturing companies in the Silicon Valley to develop a high definition wafer inspection system to improve their inspection accuracy and production yield. This unique dual camera inspection consisted of both hardware and software that performed necessary image processing for its application.

in 2000, Vidtek designed and installed 25,000 camera CCTV systems for Exodus’ Data Centers at 42 locations worldwide, allowing for global monitoring at its headquarters located in Santa Clara, CA.

In 1999, Vidtek Associates had the opportunity to integrate a digital security & surveillance system for BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) based in the San Francisco Bay area. This highly popular form of public transportation accommodates approximately 350,000 to 395,000 commuters each day and has 43 train stations and 667 cars. The scope of the project was to implement four cameras and one four-channel recording device per car. The delivery of content was via wireless transmission and was monitored at the Operation Control Center (OCC). While most security system integrators were applying archaic technology during this time, Vidtek took the lead in implementing a complete “state of the art” digital system to emphasize the importance of cutting edge video technology usually found in the professional video arena.

To this day, Vidtek Associates has maintained the integrity of the original system and provides BART with the service and support they deserve. On top of this, Bay Area commuters can be assured that their safety of using public transportation is BART’s number one concern.

Our customer is the world’s leading supplier of process control and yield management solutions for the semiconductor and related microelectronics industries. Rated among the worlds top ten semiconductor equipment manufacturers, their products are used by every major semiconductor manufacturer in the world.

Vidtek was tasked to provide a custom solution for both their darkfield and brightfield patterned wafer inspection systems. The systems themselves provided better discrimination between defects of interest and nuisances defects. The issue was due to the end of life of a ½” 3-CCD camera, the direct replacement had some changes that affected the overall performance of the inspection tool. An IR filter had to be used to continue using this camera. The location of the IR filter was to be placed in the auto-focus. Because of the urgency of providing manufacturing with a solution, Vidtek custom designed an O-ring and coupler device. This solution saved our customer hundreds of thousands of dollars by keeping the manufacturing line flowing as well as the months involved in specifying a new camera. This also benefited the camera manufacturer in enabling them to continue and support the customer.

Vidtek worked closely with the camera manufacturer and its distributor on this project.

Our customer is a leading global medical company which manufactures medical devices and instrumented systems dedicated in improving people’s health throughout the world. This project was for their cancer diagnostic system in which three 2/3” CCD cameras with square pixels were implemented.

The task at hand was to convert the cameras on board processing from NTSC to PAL. Vidtek was able to accomplish this, in turn saving the company time and money of re-specifying a new camera.
